Rick Ernst

BE, Grad IEAust PEng., M. IEEE

Rick graduated in Electrical Engineering (Computer Systems Engineering) at The University of Queensland, Australia. His thesis was in the area of an Image Compression Techniques - JPEG and Neural Networks. Rick's main interests lie in the area of computer hardware. However, he also has extensive experience in the areas of networking and software development.

Rick worked as a Systems Programmer and Apple Support Engineer at The University of Queensland's Computer Centre. There he provided Macintosh, UNIX and PC Support to University Departments. Here and elsewhere, Rick has developed skills in programming in C, C++, and UNIX Shell languages as well as an extensive networking background. Rick is also a qualified UNIX Systems Administrator; specialising in both Silicon Graphics IRIX and SunOS (Solaris).

To complement his practical hardware background as an Apple Level One Hardware Technician and his theoretical background in Electrical Engineering, he is also completing a Computer Science Degree at the University of Queensland.
